Beulah – John Paul White
John Paul White’s first new album in nearly a decade, is aptly titled Beulah. Of poet William Blake’s Beulah, White says, “Beulah was a place you could go in your dreams. You could go there in meditation, to relax and heal and center yourself. It wasn’t a place you could stay, but you came back to the world in a better state.” For White, like many of us, music is his Beulah. The singer, songwriter, Muscle Shoals native, and co-founder of Single Lock Records fills the album with the folk, Southern rock, and Southern gothic sound he is known for—and offers us all his own long-awaited musical escape. Making Pictures: Three for a Dime
Arkansas-based artist Maxine Payne authors Making Pictures: Three for a Dime, with a forward by Phillip March Jones. The book brings new life to the collection of photos made by the Massengill family in Arkansas during the Great Depression. Making Pictures, co-published by our friends at Dust-to-Digital and Institute 193, showcases the photos, some strange and others haunting, that serve as the inspiration for our previous collection.
